Killer croc film Black Water out today

Wow. It’s a film about a film about a killer animal that didn’t premiere on the SciFi Channel. What is this world coming to?

Black Water is out today through Sony with a behind the scenes featurette and an audio commentary. I’ve heard good things about it, so check it out and leave a comment letting us know what you thought of the film.

The plot is below…

In the tradition of Open Water and Rogue comes a thrilling and suspenseful new horror film inspired by the true events of a terrifying crocodile attack. What begins as a leisurely boat tour down the rivers of Northern Australia becomes a horrifying race for survival when Grace, Adam and Lee become hostages of a man-eating crocodile. When their boat suddenly capsizes in a mangrove swamp they are shocked to find that their guide is missing. Realizing they’ve been attacked by a crocodile, the only place they can find safety is up a tree. Now, stranded in the flooded swamp, starving and terrified, the three must battle to survive the bloodthirsty beast who sits below — just waiting for one of them to lose their grip…

Here’s something I found interesting. Lake Placid 2 was the top direct-to-video film when it was released a few weeks ago. Black Water comes out this week through the same company (Sony) and will probably do quite well. Meanwhile, the ‘Hollywood’ killer crocodile movie Rogue, Greg Mclean’s follow-up to Wolf Creek, still looks to be in distribution limbo and would be better off being released direct-to-video.

Edit: The title of the post initially referred to the film as ‘Black Eater.’ My bad.

  1. Lake Placid 2 .. Black Water … Rogue

Three movies I will not watch, ever.

  2. I thought you’d found a new film to add to my Killer Crocodile Filmography, then I realised that E and W are adjacent on a keyboard.

    Black Eater’s a great title though…

  3. My God I’m a horrible journalist.
